Teeth Whitening

One of the simplest ways to bring attention to your smile is by brightening it up with an at-home teeth whitening kit made just for you.

Make Others Notice Your Smile with Gentle Teeth Whitening

One of the first things people notice about you is your smile. Giving your teeth a wow factor by changing them to a brighter hue is an easy treatment that gets results quickly. Teeth whitening removes stains and discolouration from teeth. It improves their colour through a bleaching process to make them look whiter.

At City Quay Dental Clinic & Implant Centre, we use a bespoke teeth whitening system designed to reduce sensitivity and provide a fast and convenient whiter smile. Both chairside whitening and at-home whitening kits are available to give you a brilliant smile.

Discolouration Happens for Many Reasons

Everyone is different, and just as hair and skin colour vary, so do teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth naturally. The ageing process makes teeth appear more discoloured, often settling in a yellow or grey hue. Beyond age, several other factors contribute to tooth discolouration, including:
Before you get your teeth whitened, you will need to see one of our dental hygienists to get any calculus or tartar removed from your teeth. This cleaning helps ensure that the teeth whitening treatment works more efficiently, as it does not have to try to burrow under the layers of buildup.

Why Whiten Your Teeth Professionally?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment that can work wonders on the appearance of your smile. As a result, whitening treatments come with many benefits, including:

What is In-House Teeth Whitening?

In-house teeth whitening has been specially developed to service the increasing demand from patients for a highly effective chair-side whitening treatment.

The whitening gel we use is a unique low-viscosity formula designed to act quickly, giving the maximum result over an hour-and-a-half treatment process. The in-office whitening uses advanced blue LED light-accelerated whitening, which can make your teeth up to eight shades whiter in a single visit.

To ensure the longevity of results, every in-house whitening treatment includes a whitening kit with four whitening gel treatments, ensuring that you achieve a white smile that lasts.

Take Home Kits

The take-home kits involve an examination by one of our dentists first to establish if there are any risks in providing teeth whitening. The patient does the procedure at home but under the supervision of a dentist. We take great care to provide patients with appropriate treatments and help them achieve smiles they want to show off.

Your home whitening kit includes custom-made bleaching/whitening trays and whitening gel. One of our acclaimed dentists will provide specific instructions on how often you need to use the trays, how much whitening gel you need, and how long you must keep the trays inserted each day.

The treatment duration for the take-home teeth whitening kits is usually between three to four weeks. Please book a time with one of our team members if you are interested in brightening your smile.

The Results Speak for Themselves

City Quay Dental Clinic & Implant Centre’s team provides impressive cosmetic dental results. The following case studies illustrate the aesthetically-pleasing outcomes we provide patients.

A Word of Caution with OTC Whitening Kits

We do not recommend over-the-counter (OTC) kits sold in the UK as they usually contain only a small concentration of hydrogen peroxide (the whitening product). The legal limit in the UK is 0.1% of hydrogen peroxide, and effective bleaching products need about 3.6%.

Also, some of these kits contain mild acids, and others are abrasive. This can cause ulcers and damage the gums and the enamel if not used properly.

We use a 10% carbamide peroxide balanced solution in practice. The system has been designed to reduce sensitivity and reduce the effect of dehydration that generally occurs with teeth whitening.
